Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

"Racism is the lowest, most crudely primitive form of collectivism.  It is the notion of ascribing moral, social or political significance to a man's genetic lineage--the notion that a man's intellectual and characterological traits are produced and transmitted by his internal body chemistry.  Which means, in practice, that a man is to be judged, not by his own character and actions, but by the characters and actions of a collective of ancestors."  The Virtue of Selfishness

America's history is peppered with men who've been killed for trying to do the right thing by trying to unite our country.  I think back at the big three who've been assassinated:  Abraham Lincoln, John F. Kennedy, and Martin Luther King, Jr.  These three men all stood for the same thing, in one way, shape, or form...ridding our country of racism.  Yet, they were looked upon as threats and were eliminated as such.

When I think of the type of person it would take to commit such an act of violence, simply because they don't agree with someone trying to do something good, I'm saddened to call those assassins Americans.  I won't do them the honor of writing their names, as they are not worth remembering.

While all this is upsetting, the most peaceful of the three...the one who didn't have command of the military at his disposal, was Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  I can't help but wonder, what would he think about our country now...?

And you're blogging...why?

First, I want to say thanks for stopping by.  You've obviously taken time out of your day to check out my page, be it on purpose or by accident--either way, it's appreciated...and hopefully you enjoy it.

Alright, so why you're here...

Just like anyone else, I like to voice my thoughts.  Depending on the day, you may get my opinion on amazing countries I've visited, superb food I've tried (or cooked), beautiful pictures I've taken (and probably modified to look even better ~wink wink~), the government, or whatever else I may happen to think of the moment I sit down in front of the keyboard.
