Me, myself, and I...

Why no comments?
This is open to anyone who has Internet access, and since it's my blog, I don't feel like reading everyone else's opinions on what I write...period.

What I'm not
I'm not a Republican.  I'm not a Democrat.  I don't take sides when it comes to politics--I simply dream of the day when we'll have politicians who care more about the people of this country than they do about the type of furniture in their offices.  At this point, though, I've pretty much given up on all politicians--if you cannot stand by your word regardless of what others think, then you are of no value to me or to the citizens of this country.

I'm not a butt kisser...I don't like doing things for the sake of people seeing me do them.  I don't donate because I think I have to--I do it because I want to, and only when/where I want to.

I don't give hand-outs to people that don't try.  I haven't the slightest bit of respect for that kind of human.  There are so many people in this world who were born into a life of poverty and have risen to become someone great, why should I give my hard-earned money to someone who's lazy...someone who feels everyone owes them something...someone who feels entitled to something they're not?  I understand that sometimes people fail, but don't quit...get back up and try--your life is not over yet...rise up and live it, and have some self-respect while you're at it.

What I am
I'm passionate...about a lot of things.  I'm passionate about my family.  I'm passionate about the safety of children and animals.  Child abuse, above all, is something that hurts me to my core.  I'm passionate about love--I'm madly and hopelessly in love with my husband.  I adore him to the point of no return, and I'm absolutely perfectly OK knowing that.  I'm passionate about my freedom and independence (hence, the blog name).  Too much blood has been shed to get our country to where it is today, but the way we've been going the past twenty or thirty years, I'm beginning to fear it was all for naught...I can only hope that I'm wrong.

I'm a hard worker.  I believe in earning what you have, and being proud of what you've earned.  I've occasionally failed at some things, but I just worked harder the next time and fixed it.  I never want to feel like anyone has any sort of hold over me because they did me a favor--I never want to owe anyone.

I'm a traveler; I love learning about different cultures and seeing new places.  This world is too big and its people too different to never leave your backyard.

I'm loud, quiet, silly, and serious.  I've got no shame, but at the same time, I'm easily embarrassed.  Catch me on the wrong day and you'll wish you never met me.  Catch me on the right day, and you'll wonder where I've been all your life.  Sometimes I laugh so hard that I start crying because I literally can't breathe...sometimes I just cry over silly commercials!

I'm still confused as to what I want to do with my life:  archaeologist, world traveler, photographer, historian, tycoon, international resort builder, Richard Branson's protege...?  I do know one thing...I currently, and will ALWAYS, have the best job in the world...IN MY LIFE!
